How to Write a Term Paper
Speak Out, Write On
Everhart
1994
Submitter: This is a book about writing term papers from the early 90s that I just plucked off the shelf.??It has been checked out 24 times, most recently three years ago (!)??As you can see, it is rather outdated.
Holly:? Some of the info here isn?t bad.? Choosing a topic,?creating citations?all that is pretty much the same as it ever was.? The problem with this is the part on doing research, and possibly the part on taking notes.? Databases have made both of these areas so much easier and faster than it was in the 90s.? The prevelance of gadgets like tablets and notebook computers makes note-taking so much more portable.? Back in the day we made a lot?of photocopies from bound volumes of journals.? Now you either type some ideas into your phone to reference later or link directly to the journal article through the databases.? And the databases themselves!? Look at the screen shots below and then look at some of the amazing databases we have access to today.? You can email articles to yourself now, you can create marked lists, you can link easily to related topics, you can find multi-media sources in search results?it?s wonderful!? In 1994 you probably chose articles very carefully because you had to commit time and resources to printing on a dot-matrix printer if you wanted a copy.? Not only that, you had to load CD-ROMs to search the databases at all!
Use this book to tell your kids how we wrote term papers ?in the olden days.?
